All eyes were on the skies above Surfers Paradise this week as Pacific Airshow Gold Coast officially launched their 2024 event.
The action was full throttle for the launch event, which featured a BASE jump, and aerobatic display and the landing of two RAAus-registered BushCat aircraft on the beach itself.
In an impressive display of skill and versatility, two pilots from Gold Coast Sports Flying Training landed the BushCats on the busy beach, demonstrating the type’s incredible Short Take-Off and Landing (STOL) capabilities. The feat took significant planning and special permission, but ultimately served to show the skill of recreational pilots and the versatility of the BushCat aircraft. It also demonstrated the important part that recreational aviation plays in the national aviation landscape.
The second instalment of the annual event, this year’s Pacific Airshow will see breathtaking displays featuring both civilian and military aircraft above the beautiful beach at Surfers Paradise. A recent lineup announcement revealed the likes of the RAAF Roulettes, Red Bull Air Race Champion Matt Hall, US Navy Leap Frogs and many more will be making appearances at this year’s event.
Taking place on 16-18 August, tickets are now on sale for this fantastic event!
